Jonesboro- Margaret Iceal Shannon, 88, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at Flo Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born November 14, 1927 in Greenfield to the late Arthur and Ethel Scott Bedwell. Mrs. Shannon worked in retail but she always remembered picking cotton. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Gary Dewayne Shannon (Margaret Faye) of Glencoe and Barbara Atkins of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Jennifer Bell of Long Beach, California, Jason Atkins of Marion and Gary Shannon Jr. (Carrie) of Clarksville, TN; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Allen Shannon; two brothers, Willard Bedwell and Wilfred Bedwell; three sisters, Louise Petty, Pearl Mae Burke and Juanita Bedwell and a son-in-law, Eugene Atkins. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Andy Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Farm Hill near Harrisburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jason Atkins, Gary Shannon Jr., Ryan Shannon, Caleb Shannon, Kenny Bedwell, Jeremiah Bedwell and Jim Bedwell.
