Obituary

Margaret “Margie” Theresa Sorg Baltz, 83, of Pocahontas, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Margie devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, nursing instructor, and home health caregiver, always finding fulfillment in helping those around her. Above all, she cherished caring for her grandchildren and creating a warm, loving home for her family.

A woman of many talents, Margie had a gift for sewing, quilting, gardening, decorating, and design. She lovingly crafted wedding dresses for her sisters, created beautiful quilts that will be treasured for generations, and took great pride in making every space feel welcoming. While her many talents left a lasting impression, her greatest accomplishment was the loving family she built alongside her beloved husband, Max, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Max Baltz; her parents, Henry Sorg and Frances Pfeffer Sorg; and her siblings, Mary Lee Roods, Anita Kelly, Joe Sorg, and Rita Katherine Head.

Margie leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Malissa (Allen) Crawford, Karen Johnson, Gerald (Tammie) Baltz, Keith (Lisa) Baltz, and Renee (Chris) Kawcak; her grandchildren, Jillian (Marty) Hogan, Derek (Lesli) Baltz, Kyle Wren, Jason (Sarah) Wren, Zachary Johnson, Taylor (Chris) Ussery, Ashley Hagood, Morgan (Landon) Meldrum, Emma (Nathan) Pittman, Courtney Kawcak, Nicholas Baltz, Cody Kawcak, and Max Baltz; her great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Hailey, and Wyatt Hogan, Asher Wren, Paige and Dean Wren, and Daniel Rusak, Alice and Allan Baltz, Waylon Ussery, and Etta Jane Meldrum; her siblings, Gerald Sorg, Lawrence Sorg, Carolyn Felts, Joan Burtman, and Judy Wurtz; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Her granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
