Mrs. Mamie Louise McLaughlin of Hoxie, departed this life Friday, January 3, 2014 at her home at the age of 70. She was born December 28, 1944 in Jonesboro, the daughter of Earl Granger and Effie Howlett Granger. Mamie was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal Faith. She loved gardening and flowers and enjoyed reading her Bible. She especially loved spending time with her children and family. She married Roy Patton on April 17, 1993 and they have enjoyed 21 years together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Effie Granger; a son, Ronnie McLaughlin; a daughter, Sheila Darlene McLaughlin and 4 siblings, Herbert Granger, Billy Harold Granger, Chester Granger and Gertrude "Gerty" Oakes. She is survived by her husband Roy Patton of the home; two sons, Johnny McLaughlin and his wife Kathy of Trumann, Terry McLaughlin and his wife Sherry of Jonesboro; two daughters, Tammie McLaughlin and Phyllis Stayton, both of Hoxie; three sisters, Lorena Granger of Jonesboro, Patricia K. Wessel of Jonesboro and Nancy Lawrence of Cloverbend; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with interment to follow in Pine Log Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday evening, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Timothy Harbin, David Combs, Curtis Combs, Jonathon McLaughlin, Thomas Shelton and Matt Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Granger and Steven Granger. Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider the Arkansas Children's Hospital.
