Caraway- Madison "Matt" Hurst, 85, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Lakeside Nursing Center.

He was born August 16, 1937 in Biggers to Everett and Arvella Hurst. He had owned and operated the Quick Shop in Caraway for many years. He served proudly in the Arkansas National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and carpentery work. Matt loved his family and his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Hurst, Arvella and Gene Johnson; his first wife, Gouilda Hurst; wife of forty-nine years, Mildred Hurst; a son, Gary Don Hurst; a grandson, Dr. Jeremy Hinton; two great-grandchildren, Westin Thorn and Emma Thorn; a sister, Wanda Coleman and a brother, Everett Hurst.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Hinton (Diana) of Conway, Danny Hurst (Judie) of Benton, Gail Riley (Mike), Ronnie Hurst (Kim) and Terry Hinton (Brandy) all of Caraway, Andra Pendegraft (Keith) of Scottsboro, AL and Phillip Hurst (Bobbie Sue) of Caraway; a daughter-in-law, Anita Hurst; a brother, Thomas Hurst; a sister, Shirley Wohlschlegel; fourteen grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Caraway Cemetery with Greg Hurst officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons and sons-in-law.

Lasting memorials may be sent to the Children's Home in Paragould.
