Federal Way, Washington-Lt. Colonel (RET) Hal Altman Detrick, 93, a Jonesboro native, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 7th, 2015. Hal was born February 24, 1922 in Jonesboro to the late O.R. Detrick and Ora Berry Detrick. Dedicated to his family and country, Hal served 38 years of active service beginning with the Arkansas National Guard, the US Army Air Corps, and the US Air Force, retiring in 1977. Since retiring, Hal continued to serve his community through many opportunities of volunteerism. Also preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Carolyn Spears Detrick and grandson, David Scott Diggs. Hal is survived by three daughters, Diana Detrick Cundiff (Kenneth), Melissa Detrick-Douglas (Andrew), and Cynthia Detrick Meredith (Ronald); grandsons Hal Detrick Diggs and Adam Detrick Baker; granddaughter Amanda C. Armstrong and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Emil Williams officiating. Hal will be laid to rest in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2015 at the funeral home.
