Lake City- Lonnie Gene Cooksey, 72, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was born April 15, 1953 in Jonesboro to Floyd and Mary Cooksey.

He was a farmer and mechanic throughout his life. Gene loved to hunt and fish with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife, Diane Cooksey, of the home; two sons, Bobby (Nicole) Cooksey of Lake City and Ernie (Deanna) Roberts of Jonesboro; two daughters, Pamela Gann of Needham and Kimberly (James) Vickers of Bay; 10 grandkids and 13 great grandkids.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Mary Cooksey; a son Corkey Cooksey; three brothers Tony Cooksey, Steven Cooksey, and Mike Cooksey; and two sisters, Judy Cooksey and Freda Henderson.

A Graveside service, to celebrate his life, will be Friday May 23, 2025 at Pine Log Cemetery with Don Martin officiating starting at 10:30 AM. A visitation will be held the day before on Thursday May 22, 2025 from 6-8 PM at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jake Gilleand, Jordan Cooksey, Mason Roberts, Zach Gann, JJ Riley, and Cameron Riley.

Honorary pallbearers are Garrett Bond, Colby Vickers, and Coltyn Vickers.
