Obituary

Mrs. Lois J. Johns of Harrisburg, departed this life Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg, at the age of 89.

She was born October 6, 1932 in Waldenburg, the daughter of Willard Carroll Wilson and Ruth Faye Dennon Wilson.

Following graduation from Harrisburg High School, she attended Baptist Hospital Nursing School in Memphis and then attended Arkansas State College in Jonesboro where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Education.  Lois taught school for many years at Harrisburg and at Dixie.  She married Charles Johns in 1951 and they enjoyed 62 years together before his death in 2013.  Lois was a former Grand Matron for Eastern Star for the State of Arkansas. She enjoyed reading and crocheting and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Lowell Dennon Johns.  She is survived by two sons, David Johns (Becky) and Bud Johns (Janna), all of Harrisburg, five grandchildren, Kurt Johns (Tonya) of Harrisburg, Carrie Johns of Harrisburg, Megan Bruce (Nick) of Harrisburg, Lauren Qualls (Brayden) of Lake City, and Natalie Johns of Jonesboro, and five great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be held Monday, November 29 th , at 1:00 p.m., at Jonesboro Memorial Park, under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg, with Brother Michael Criner officiating. There will be no visitation.  Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider St. Jude's Research Hospital in Memphis or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
