Ms. Linda Joyce Shasteen, 78, of Caraway passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Ms. Shasteen was born January 8, 1945 to the late William and Betty Waters.

In early years, Linda worked for American Greetings, Caraway Elementary School, and owned the Black Oak Kwik Shop with her husband, Jerry. However, of all these jobs listed before, her favorite was taking care of her daughter Tammy, who was born with Spina Bifida and passed away in 2006. After Tammy passed away, she then became busy babysitting her two great-grandchildren, Kalli and Kennedy. As they got older, she enjoyed being their number one fan and following them around in their many sports endeavors. She loved her family and extended Pendergrass Family. She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Caraway.

Linda is survived by her son, Mark Shasteen of Caraway; daughter-in-law, Wanda Shasteen of Rivervale; her granddaughters, Heather (Dewayne) Blocker of Black Oak and Whitney (Kyle) Vassar of Paragould; great-grandchildren, Kalli and Kennedy Blocker of Black Oak, Kylan Vassar of Paragould, Bradyn and Allie Blocker of Jonesboro; one sister, Ms. Margie Berry of Caraway.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Shasteen; daughter, Tammy Shasteen; brother, Billy Lee Waters.

A celebration of her life will be 11:00 am Monday, March 27, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Heath Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 am Monday at the church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Fred Couch, Kenny Stallings, Bo James, Roger Williams, Chad Sneed, and Tim Reams. Honorary pallbearers are members of the New Hope Baptist Church.
