Obituary

Linda Jean Clarke, 88, of Pocahontas, passed away on June 11, 2026, at Randolph County Nursing Home.

Linda was born on November 7, 1937, in Waldo, Arkansas, to the late Robert Boyd Callicott and Georgia Odelle Callicott. She was an exceptional wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose life was guided by her Christian faith and a deep commitment to serving others.

Linda was a registered nurse whose career spanned 44 years across Massachusetts and Arkansas. Throughout her career, she served her community in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and home health. She concluded her career at the Lawrence County Health Department, where she retired.

Linda had a love for reading, animals, and gospel music. She was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed playing basketball in her younger years. She was also known for her cooking, especially her fried chicken, Sad Cake, and Macintosh apple cake—favorites cherished by family and friends. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Odelle Callicott; her husband, Kenneth Clarke Jr.; her brother, Robert Callicott; her sister-in-law, Janice Callicott; and her grandson, Samuel Lingo.

Linda is survived by her brother, Monte Callicott of Pocahontas; her son, Alan Gouge (Mindy) of Indiana; her daughters, Kathy Aden (Scott) of North Carolina and Donna Clarke-Mathers (Daniel) of South Carolina; and her grandsons, Cory Gouge of Indiana and Zachary Mathers of Minnesota, along with many other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas. Reverend George Odell will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Monte Callicott, Alan Gouge, Scott Aden, Daniel Mathers, Cory Gouge, and James Ashcraft. Honorary pallbearers are Donna Lynn Sawyers and Gail Maibaum, Harrison Lingo.

The Heart Of A Nurse

Nurses are compassionate and caring,
With love in their hearts for all.
Forever extending a heart of mercy,
Always there when there is call.
Endless hours they stand on their feet,
Wondering did I do my best
To help this patient get through this illness,
Ease their pain so they can rest.
In their hearts you hear God's whisper
Through a nurse he sends his love.
Ever sensitive, kind and caring,
Souls as pure as a snow white dove.
Angel yes, she tends to be,
For her presence comforts me.
Concern for the sick shows on her face,
Her gentle touch, my fears erase.
