Obituary

Mr. Lesley Wayne Hogan, 87, of Middleburg, Florida, and formerly of Harrisburg, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025, due to complications from leukemia. Born on September 2, 1937, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, Wayne lived a full and meaningful life, marked by service, hard work, and love for family and community.

Wayne attended Harrisburg High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy at just 17, proudly serving his country from 1954 to 1957. In his younger years, he found joy in gardening, fishing, helping others, and tinkering with cars.

His professional career spanned decades in the forging industry. Wayne worked at Pettibone Drop Forge Company in Chicago, Illinois, for nine years before moving to Michigan, where he served as a General Foreman at Manistee Forge Company for 17 ½ years. Later, he relocated to Champaign, Illinois, and became the Plant Superintendent at Clifford Jacobs Forging Company, retiring on July 18, 2003, after 15 years of dedicated service.

Wayne shared a remarkable journey of love and companionship in his life. He married his first sweetheart, Barbara Ellen Vail, on April 4, 1959, and they cherished nearly 46 years together until her passing on February 9, 2005. Later, Wayne was blessed to find love again with Margaret Kay Hopper, whom he married on September 15, 2007. They shared nearly nine beautiful years together until her passing on May 8, 2016.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Jewell Jones Hogan; his brothers, Wilson Earl Hogan and Walter Carl Hogan; his sister, Lila Faye Teague; and his beloved wives, Barbara Ellen Hogan and Margaret Kay Hogan.

He is survived by his loving children, David Wayne (Leisa) Hogan, Brenda Lynn (Michael) Smith, Susan Gail (Joe) Johnson, and Michael Scott (Janet) Hogan; his stepchildren, Stephen Charles (Brenda) Hopper and David Alan (Jennifer) Hopper; 10 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who will cherish his memory.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gregg Weston Funeral Service Chapel in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Reverend  John Lindsey officiated the service. Wayne was laid to rest at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Pallbearers honoring his memory were David Hogan, Joe Johnson, Michael Hogan, Kody Hogan, Luke Hogan, and Nick Johnson.

Wayne's life was a testament to hard work, love, and resilience. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
