Obituary

Waldenburg- Leon Aston, 88, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

He was born September 24, 1933 in Waldenburg to the late Garland and Myrtie Gahn Aston. Leon was the owner and operator of Aston Service Station. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Colahan in several battles. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal- three stars and China Service Medal.  He was a loving husband, outdoorsman and first class mechanic and enjoyed stock-car racing.

He was survived by his wife, Wilma Aston; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Howard (Sherry) of Bartlett, TN and Kenny Howard (Connie) of Cabot; nieces and nephew, Jennifer  Long (Heath) of Jonesboro, Justin Howard of Cabot, Susan Thomas (Mark) of Lonoke, Cheryl Malone (Brad) of Fisher, Pam Secrease (Clark) of Jonesboro and Retha Beshears (Don) of Wynne.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Aston and a niece, PaMella Aston.

A celebration of his life will be 12:00 noon Friday, November 26, 2021 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Balch – Johnson Cemetery near Amagon.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
