Obituary

Pocahontas- Leo G. Franks, 93, entered into eternal peace on May 21, 2014. Leo was born November 16, 1920 in Sitka, KS to the late James William and Kitty Pearl Kipp Franks. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Hellen Franks, sons Dennis (Cindy) Franks of NLR, AR., Steve Franks of Maynard, AR., grandchildren; Christina Baker, Ashley Franks, Kimberly (Tye) Mann, Valerie Franks, James (Shari) Franks, Christon (Danielle) Franks, Amanda Long, Tommie (James) Smith, 10 great grandchildren, brother James William Franks Jr. , sisters Rita Ruth Spradlin, Shirley Ione Goodnight, Lee Mae Inlow. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Mildred Reeser, Freda Downard, Velsie Folks, Clair Franks, Marguerite Scott, Velma Franks, Norma McKee, brothers; Ernest Franks, Robert Franks, Glenn Franks, Elwood Franks. Leo was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer/ ADC from 1940-1960. He was in WWII and Korean Wars. After retiring from the Navy he worked for the USPS for many years, his final days were spent on his cattle farm. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and passed on his mechanic skills he learned in the Navy to them. Services will be held at McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be May 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Roger Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery with Navy Honors.
