Obituary

Lena Genelle Scott, 87, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the Clarksville Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Scott was born on September 26, 1931, in Norwood, Missouri, the daughter of Homer B. and Verba Mae Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jean Tinker, and her brothers Rolla Smith and Homer Dallas Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ben R. Scott.

As a loving and faithful pastor's wife, Genelle served alongside her husband during his fifty-plus years of pastoral ministry. Together they ministered in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Genelle served in many capacities within the church and denomination, all of which complimented her husband's ministry. She worked in Children's Church, held numerous leadership positions in the Women's Auxiliary (local, district, state, and national level), worked with the youth, cleaned the church, worked in youth camp year after year, and at the same time raised a family of three boys. Her love and devotion to the Lord, her husband, and her family touched and influenced countless lives through the years and she is to be praised for all she has done for the glory of God. In the words of her late husband he wrote, "You carried your end of the load and much of mine."

Mrs. Scott is survived by three sons, Randy and Debbie Scott of Ashland City, Tennessee; Fred and Terry Scott of Garner, North Carolina; and Len and Aimee Scott of Clarksville, Tennessee. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jason Scott, Amy Carson, Bethany Owens, Kailey Scott, Benjamin Scott, Kaitlen Scott, and Claiborne Scott and six great-grandchildren; Lauryn Carson, Anna Grace Carson, Landon Owens, Benjamin Owens, Olivia Scott, and Emma Owens.
