Jonesboro- Lela Jane Gambill, 86, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Flo Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born May 24, 1928 in Jonesboro to the late Raymond and Bernice Mangrum Lincoln. Mrs. Gambill retired as secretary from H.H. Corp and had worked at Walnut St. Baptist Church for twelve years, Coca-Cola for nine years and Jonesboro Sun for seventeen years. She was a former member of the Altrusa Club in Jonesboro and faithful member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and the Joy Club. She is survived by two sons and their wives, George "Pete" and Shirley Gambill and Dennis "Demo" and Linda Gambill all of Jonesboro; a daughter, Tina Tillman of Little Rock; a brother and his wife, Jimmy Ray and Mary Lincoln of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Christopher Gambill (Dawn), Stephen Gambill (Katie), Tara Tillman and Tyler Tillman; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Maurine Blankenship and Doris Weaver; a brother-in-law, Ed Blankenship and a niece, Melissa Lincoln. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Parker officiating with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 pm, Saturday at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave. in Jonesboro. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jim Cole, Ron Hatley, Bill Cook, Jerry Hathcoat, Chris Gambill and Steve Gambill and as honorary pallbearers, John Krutz, Max Parker and Darrell Williamson. The family request lasting memorials to the Walnut Street Baptist Church.
