Jonesboro – Lawrence Edward Lands, 95, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home.

He was born October 3, 1927 in Walcott to Otis Cleveland and Cecil May Lands. Lawrence served his country proudly in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

Lawrence grew up in a farming family and farmed at Stanford and Walcott.  He moved with his family to Colorado in the 70s and worked for King Soopers which he retired from in 1992.  He loved Colorado and the mountains and took his family on many picnics in the mountains which they usually ate at home because everywhere was just "too public."  He took great joy in visiting his family, but only briefly…; he was usually ready to leave for his next trip before he pulled in the driveway.  He LOVED road trips but he was a rolling stone.  In his later years, he enjoyed tinkering around his house, growing a garden, and always had a lot he had to get home to do…

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Rogers Lands; son, Lawrence Edward Lands Jr; grandson, Jacob Alexander Gooding; parents, Otis Cleveland and Cecil May Lands; sister, Doris Parham and brother, Jack Lands.

He is survived by his children, Jamie Acosta (Jesse), Toni Gooding and David Lands; grandchildren, Deeanna McLendon, Kimberly DeLong, Justin Kirk, Lawrence Lands III, Thomas Lands and James Lands; six great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Kay Bishop and many nieces and nephews, a large circle of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Tad Rogers officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
