Obituary

Imboden - Lavon Young, 79, of Imboden, passed away January 2, 2016. Born February 25, 1936 in Bono, son of Herman and Willie Mae O'Conner Young. He was a cattle farmer, lifetime member of the Angus Association, and a member of the Imboden First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, W.D. Young; and two sisters, Ophelia Ford and Louise Ford. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Bonnie Mae Hooker Young; one son, Kelly (Leona) Young of Windom, TX; two daughters, Melissa (Curtis) Young of Imboden and Kimberly (Nathan) Henson of Imboden; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Jean) Young of Jonesboro; one sister, Moline Caples of Bono, and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2016 from 5-7 PM at McNabb Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Imboden First Baptist Church with Michael Freeman and Tracy Martin officiating. Internment will be in Trinity Cemetery near Bono. Pallbearers include: Joshua Young, Tristan Young, Wesley Young, Andrew Young, Jimmy Phelps, and Gary Cremeans. Honorary pallbearers include his fellow deacons: Jim Smith, Larry McLeod, and Ray Thompson, and the member of his men's Sunday School class: Wade Bellah, Bob Lewis, Jim Taylor, and Butch Coleman.
