Monette- Larry Dale Rolland, 73, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his home.

Larry was born December 13, 1949 in Monette to the late William and Alice Pearce Rolland. He met the love of his life in high school at Monette and enjoyed forty-nine years together till Gaye's death in 2017. He missed her every day. He worked in farming most of his life.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army serving two tours in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Larry also served his community as post commander or vice commander in the Monette American Legion for twenty-four years. He was on the Monette's Veterans' Monument Committee.  He felt honored to help each year with the food boxes and bags, the yearly Memorial Service and putting out the flags. He was passionate about the American Flag.

He attended the Monette First Baptist Church when he was able and enjoyed doing shoeboxes at Christmas for children. He never missed a chance to tell his family that he loved them. He will be remembered for his huge heart and his love for his God, Country, Town and his family. He loved deeply!

He is survived by his children, Justin Rolland (Melody) and Tina Matheny (Jamie); grandchildren, Kayla Peaster (Braden), Alex Matheny and Oliva Rolland; great-granddaughter, Bella Peaster; siblings, Jerry Rolland (Loretta), Benny Rolland (Robin), Shirley Johnson (Joe), Freda Vaughn and Patsy Redding (Oscar); brothers-in-law, Lester Mullen (Barbara) and Steve Mullen; sister-in-law, Marla Anne Mullen; many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaye Mullen Rolland and brothers, Bill Rolland, Glen Rolland, Jack Rolland and Fred Rolland.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Monette Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating with full military honors. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.
