Mr. Larry Edward McElroy of Jonesboro, departed this life Friday night, November 6, 2020, at his home, at the age of 75.
He was born July 3, 1945, the son of the late James McElroy and Mary Gage McElroy.
Larry was a graduate of Monette High School and entered a career in the construction business. He worked many years for BB Vance and retired around 2010. He supervised the construction of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Larry was a member of the Refuge Baptist Church in Lake City for over 25 years and one of his passions was Old Antique Cars. He married Norma Nettles in 1975 and they enjoyed 45 years together. In addition to his parents, James and Mary McElroy, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry McElroy and one stepson, Dana Harper.
He is survived by his wife, Norma McElroy of the home, two daughters, Laurica McElroy of Texas and Shelly McElroy of Utah, two step-children, Donna Barnes (Joey) of Leachville, and Doug Harper (Jody) of Lucas, TX, and three grandchildren, Josh Barnes, Aubrey Harper and Damian McElroy.
Graveside services are set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2020, at the Monette Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. There will be no visitation. Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro has been entrusted with arrangements. Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider the Refuge Baptist Church Tornado Relief.
