Larry Victor Lassiter, a lifetime resident of Jonesboro, departed this life Saturday night, July 2, 2016, in Jonesboro, at the age of 73. He was born October 26, 1942 in Jonesboro, the son of the late Harmon Victor "Buck" Lassiter and Jessie Marie Wise Lassiter. Larry was a retired Postal Clerk for the Jonesboro Post Office having served this community for 33 years. He married Helen Kennedy November 9, 1962 and they enjoyed 54 years together. He was truly a sports fan that started back in his high school days. He was selected All-State Basketball for the Nettleton Raiders and also selected All Tournament with the U.S. Air Force Basketball Team. He coached many Little League baseball teams through the years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force and a member of Temple Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lonnie Lassiter and Jason Lassiter and one sister, Marie Lassiter Hahn. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Kennedy Lassiter of the home; three sons, Rick Lassiter (Karen) of Knoxville, TN, Gary Lassiter (Heidi) of Jonesboro, and Mike Lassiter of Jonesboro; one daughter, Misty Lassiter Sanders (Jeremiah) of England; one brother, Faris Lassiter (Debbie) of Jonesboro; one sister Kayleene Lassiter Keith of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Nikki Lassiter (32), Brooke Lassiter Hawkins (27) (Brian), Alexandra Sanders (7), Jacob Lassiter (7), John Lassiter (1), two great grandsons, Quentin (11) and Jackson (9) Hawkins, and special friends and family, Eugene Betty Kennedy, Tommy Dawanda Carter, and Carolyn Timms Wiley and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at the Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeremiah Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Nettleton Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
