Mr. Larry James Bryan of Harrisburg, departed this life Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the Flo Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 78. He was born January 10, 1937 in Memphis, TN, the son of the late Elton Bryan and Velma Ripley Bryan. Larry was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and enjoyed watching hummingbirds. He was a former member of the Arkansas Army National Guard and was on the detail that guarded the Little Rock Nine at Central High School in 1957. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry James Bryan, Jr., one brother, Junior Bryan and two sisters, Betty Jean Brock and Rena Velma Walls. He is survived by one daughter, Bridget Whittingham (Tony), two sons, Alec Bryan and Garrick Bryan, all of Harrisburg, two stepdaughters, Jasmine Johnson of Paragould and Bianca Clemons (Karris) of Jonesboro, one brother, Gary Bryan (Diane) of Colt, AR, one granddaughter, Ashley Whittingham Samuel (Ian) of Harrisburg and one great grandchild, Sydney Samuel, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services have been set for 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at Farm Hill Cemetery near Harrisburg, with Bro. Paul Hale officiating. Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Thursday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Greg Reddmann, Greg Crouch, Steve Eastin, Brian Clampit, Sonny Condra and Jim Jim Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be Harrisburg High School Football team and coaches. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Flo Phil Jones Hospice House.
