Pocahontas- Katherine Opal Peters Brunner, 94, of Engelberg passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 27. 2014. She was born December 20, 1919 in Engelberg (Running Lake), the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Peters. Katherine married Wilferd Brunner in 1938, her husband of 61 years until his death in 1999. Together they had four children and Katherine spent her life caring for her family. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Wilferd, her parents, a son Eugene "Gene" Brunner, grandson, Aaron Dust, brother, Martin Peters and sister, Mary Alice Peters Blandina. Katherine is survived by sons, Gerald Brunner of the home, Kenneth (Debbie) Brunner of Paragould, daughter Mary Sue Byrd of Jonesboro and daughter-in-law, Coletta Brunner of Pocahontas. Grandchildren Glynis (Rob) Luter, Sharon (Richard) McClendon, Kevin Dust, Bruce (Gina) Brunner, Kristen Brunner, Shawn Brunner, seven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. In additon, sisters, Theresa Peters Schaechtel and Frances Peters Camp both of Pocahontas, brother, J.C, (Janet) Peters of Engelberg, sister-in-law, Marie Peters of Pocahontas and brother-in-law, Vince Blandina of St. Louis, Missouri along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service to following at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. John Catholic Church in Engelberg with Father Athansius Okeiyi officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
