Katherine G. Perry was born June 11, 1921, in Ravenden, Arkansas. She was the middle chid of L. W. and Pearl Wells Perry. Preceding her in death were both parents as well as her older sister, Virginia Perry Bassett, her brother Bill Perry, and her nephew, Bob Alan Perry. Katherine graduated from Sloan-Hendrix Academy in Imboden, Arkansas, in 1939. She earned a masters degree from Arkansas State College, Jonesboro, and moved to Florissant, Missouri, where she taught first grade for over twenty years. During that time, she received the singular honor of being recognized as Outstanding Teacher of Missouri. Katherine was also an artist. Upon retirement, she returned to the home of her birth where she spent much time drawing and painting, reading, and in Bible study. During her final three years, she was a resident at Pocahontas Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She passed away on June 8, 2012. Katherine is survived by her sister-in-law, Wanda (Bill) Perry of Clinton, AR (formerly of Ravenden); her cousin Thurman Wells of Ravenden Springs; her niece Carol (Dwight) Hutto and grandniece Angela (Jimmy) Cotton, all of Clinton; her grandniece Lori (Jack) Joynes of Nixa, MO; her grandnephew Bobby (Cindy) Bragg of Baytown, TX. She is also survived by six great-grandnieces and -nephews and four great-great-grandnieces and -nephews. Katherine's funeral will be held at Ravenden Methodist Church on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. Officiating at her service will be John Stoll, assisted by Danny Roark. Viewing will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Those serving as pallbearers: Drew Payne, Joshua Payne, Bobby Bragg, Jack Joynes, Jimmy Cotton, Harold Sharp. Honorary pallbearers: Holden Joynes, Robbie Bragg, Dwight Hutto. Any memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN, as this was one of the many charities Katherine held close to her heart.
