Juanita Stanley, beloved wife, and mother, went to her eternal home Saturday, June 5, 2021, in Prescott, Arizona at the age of 105. She led a full and happy life.
She was born Juanita Roberts in Maynard, Arkansas March 11, 1916, to the late James Lewis Roberts and Lela Myrtle Julian Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Grover Thomas Stanley, her parents, and three brothers, Cucial, Ishmael, and Don Roberts.
Juanita is survived by her daughter Donna Stanley of Prescott, sister-in-law Linda Roberts of Jonesboro; cousins Georgia Pierce, Robbie Simington, Carolyn Meredith, Linda Leach, and Bill Johnson.
Juanita was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was baptized in a creek in Arkansas in her teen years and was a member of Prescott Church of Christ on Rosser Drive.
Her longevity allowed for living through many historical events. She survived a tornado that destroyed their house when she was 12 years old, the Spanish Flue in 1918, World War II, in which she lost her brother Cucial who was a gunner on a B-17 called Lucky Lady shot down in Belgium July 30, 1943. She was a graduate of Maynard High School and attended Arkansas State College in Jonesboro majoring in education. In 1940 she married Grover Thomas Stanley of Doniphan, Missouri. They lived in Tuckerman, Arkansas, where she taught school. She also taught in Maynard, Arkansas in a one-room schoolhouse.
They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1945 and Prescott in 1953. In Prescott she kept books for her husband, Grover Stanley who owned Stanley Lumber on Miller Valley Road. Her maincareer was a homemaker. She was an expert seamstress and loved cooking and was always a great support for the family, a loving and kind mother.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Juanita will be laid to rest in the Ingram Cemetery following the services.
