Jonesboro- Joyce Faye Phillips, 85, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2026. She was born November 3 1940 in Jonesboro to the late Bennie and Lucille Lewis.

Joyce grew up on a family farm in Otwell. Being the eldest of six children, she spent her early years perfecting what she loved most, cooking, baking, and caring for others. She graduated from Valley View High School and attended college in Memphis. At the age of 18 she married the love of her life, Raymond Phillips, and shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. In their early years they owned and operated a café in Weiner before later going into farming. She was very active in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s lives. She rarely missed a moment that mattered to them. Joyce had a special gift for bringing people together. Sunday afternoons often meant a house full of family and friends gathering after church. Sometimes feeding as many as 30 people a home cooked meal. She had a way of making every friend who walked through the door family. She was always busy in the kitchen or caring for those around her. She was a lifelong member of Otwell Christian Church. She was a strong caring woman who devoted her life to her family and the Lord.

She is survived by her husband Raymond Phillips, children; a son, Terry Wayne Phillips (Karen) of Otwell, a daughter, Rhonda Mills (TerryJoe) of Valley View, a son, Barry Phillips of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Chance Mills (Haley) , Chelsea Ashlock (Jonathan), Jessica Lindsey (Shane), Cody Phillips (Kaitlyn), Chad Phillips, Justin Phillips (Terrilynn), Chase Phillips (Lauren), Abby McClintock (Jackson), Jodi Ash, and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Lana Sue Simpson and a brother Stanley Lewis (Sherri).

She is preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Lewis, a sister, Janette Messenger (Paul) and her sister Judy Lewis.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at McDaniel Cemetery Pavilion starting at 2 pm with family and Bro. Chris Thornton officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the service starting at 1 pm at the Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chance Mills, Shane Lindsey, Justin Phillips, Chase Phillips, Cody Phillips, and Bret Lewis.
