Mrs. Sue Patton Brand, of Wynne, Arkansas, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life Tuesday Night, July 2, 2013, at the Flo Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 84. She was born February 21, 1929 in Hickory Ridge, AR, the daughter of Earl Patton and Cozette Vance Patton. Sue was a member of the first nursing class at the East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City and was a nurse at the Cross County Hospital in Wynne and for Burks, Beaton and Crain for many years. She started in April 1989 at the Crowley's Ridge Educational Cooperative as a Teacher Center Clerk and retired from there at the age of 80. She loved crafting and family reunions. She enjoyed bird watching and enjoyed collecting, especially toys from Sonic. She was famous for her chicken and dressing and loved her pets. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Cozette Patton, her first husband, Paul Urfer in 1962, her second husband, Claude Brand in 1985, three sisters, Pat Green and her husband Jake, Sheila Nance and her husband Phillip, and Rheba McDonough, and one brother, Melvin "Spanky" Patton. She is survived by one son, Earl Urfer and his wife Kim of Fayetteville, AR, one daughter, Paula Johnson and her husband Dennis of Cherry Valley, two brothers, Earl Patton and his wife Barbara and Elmer Patton and his wife Charlotte, all of Wynne, 4 grandchildren, Dena Hutchison and Darrin Johnson and his wife Dana, all of Cherry Valley and Trevor Urfer and Max Urfer, both of Fayetteville, 3 great grandchildren, Leslie Hutchison, Hayden Hutchison and Dane Johnson, one great-great grandchild, Landree Olivia Parker, her pet and favorite companion, Baby, several nieces and nephews, and friends at the Magnolia Pines Independent Living in Wynne. Graveside Services have been set for 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Green, Jeff Spiegel, Larry Witt, Fred Turner, Stevie Green, Keith Volk and Neal Urfer. Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
