It is with great joy that I share the news that Joyce Ames moved on to be with her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on December 8, 1934, Joyce grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where she met her husband, David, during their school years. They were married in 1952 following her high school graduation, beginning a beautiful journey of over 61 years together. As David served in the Air Force, beginning at Roswell Air Force Base in New Mexico, they remained steadfast in the Christian ministry commitment they started in their youth. Throughout their lives, Joyce and David were dedicated to serving others. While David was active in local churches, Joyce found great joy in leading Bible classes for young people. Following David’s retirement from the military, they hosted weekly Bible studies for many service members in their home. They also founded the nonprofit "Lighted Laymen," opening a house in England to continue their ministry to young servicemen and women. Later, they transitioned to Christian marriage counseling, establishing "Mission to Marriage" and leading seminars and retreats across Guyana, India, the USA, and Great Britain. Even after her 90th birthday and while residing in an assisted living center, Joyce continued to mentor women and share the word of God with the aides and nurses who cared for her, emphasizing the importance of a personal relationship with Christ. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, David, and her youngest son, Billy. She is survived by her children, Michael and Patricia, as well as her granddaughters, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this time.
