Jonesboro- Joy Lee Hoggard, 86, went home to our Lord on January 5, 2024 at Prairie Mission in St. Paul, Kansas. She was born in Swifton on February 20, 1937 to the late Chester and Velma Swink Hoggard.

Joy graduated from Caraway High School in 1955, after which she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked as a secretary at the Pentagon. Later, she moved back to Northeast Arkansas, married Lloyd Harlan and raised their four children at Bono. She worked as a L.P.N. at George W. Jackson Mental Health Center for several years. Joy was known for her happy and soft-spoken nature. She found happiness in gardening, tending to flowers, bird watching, attending church services and later in her life, traveling to new places with her friends.

Joy loved the Lord and was a member of Southwest Church of Christ where she participated in several mission trips and faithfully attended church until her health no longer allowed.

Joy is survived by her children, Belinda Fleming of Parsons, Kansas, Maria Bolt (Mike) of Afton, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Jasinski (Mike) of Jonesboro; her siblings, Janis Coleman (Gene) of Osceola and Gary Hoggard (Ann) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Keith Cremeens (Melissa) of Centerton, Shonda Phillips of Fayetteville, and Halee Partain (Greg) of Jonesboro; great grandchildren J.C. Bilbrew and Kilan Partain; a dear sister-in-law, Betty Hoggard of Chandler, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Dale "Bubba" Harlan; siblings, JL Hoggard, Carl Hoggard, Shirley Pardew, Mildred Ferguson and Carolyn Passmore; nephew, Todd Passmore; nieces, Joy Lynn Sweazy and Chandra Davis, and great-nephew, Aaron Davis.

A celebration of her life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
