Pocahontas - Joseph Elbridge Pickett, 86, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at Randolph Home. Born March 18, 1926 in Shady Grove, Ar. to the late Richard Ray and Noma (Spotts) Pickett. He is also preceded in death by brothers; John, Bill, and Charles Pickett and sisters; Gladys Pickett and Elizabeth Stubblefield. He is survived by wife, Verlene (Burns) Pickett of the home, children; Sheri Midkiff and husband David of Portia, AR., Karen (Pickett) and husband Steve Case of Paron, AR., and Gary Pickett and wife Norma of Pocahontas. Grandchildren; Joseph Midkiff and wife Sarah of New York City, NY and Joshua Pickett of Jonesboro and great granddaughter Clementine Midkiff of New York City. And sister Mary Geneva Bottoms of Derby, KS. Several nieces and nephews also survive; Mary Jo Gwaltney, Mona Stecklein, Richard Pickett, Brian Pickett, Craig Burns, Jan Sanders, David Burns, Debbie Woods, Warren Burns and Russell Burns. Mr. Pickett was a retired cattle farmer and retired from Arkansas Highway Transportation Department. He also served as a deacon, was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was a member of Arkansas Cattlemen's Association. Memorials may be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church; Ravenden Springs, AR. 72460 or Alzheimer's Association. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Abanathy and Rev. Matthew Donner. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Special music will be performed at the graveside by Stephen Midkiff. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-7:30.
