Joseph E Marlett of Wentzville Missouri died May 8, 2019 at St Joseph Hospital West at Lake St Louis.
He was born at Warm Springs, Ar on February 7, 1931 to Emmett and Easter (Dalton) Marlett. He attended the Brakebill school and Maynard HS until he joined the US Army
at 17 where he completed his GED.
He entered the US Army in 1947, serving in the infantry and fighting in the Korean war. While in Korea he was decorated multiple times for his actions, earning 2 Bronze Stars,
the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He retired after serving 20 years in the infantry which included a tour in Okinawa, a second tour in Korea and was stationed at Fort McClellan,
AL and Fort Knox, KY. while serving stateside.
He also worked and retired from International Harvester in Louisville Ky. where he worked as a laborer and then served as a union committeeman.
He was an avid bass fisherman, hunter and accomplished Birmingham Roller pigeon competitor and judge earning a spot in the Roller pigeon hall of fame.
He married Margaret Frances Pavlock at Anniston, Al in 1953 and were married 46 years. They had 3 children Leisa, Steff and Joseph ll.
After his first wife\u0027s passing, he married Marita King Phipps in 2001. They enjoyed 18 happy years before his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Emmett, Gerald, Buddy, Jack and sister Josephine as well as his son Steff Emmett Marlett.
He is survived by his wife Marita, children Leisa Barnhart (Wesley), Joseph E Marlett ll (Lisa), stepchildren Ronald Phipps, Linda Bonifield (Paul),
Kathy DeShaney (Don). Along with 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Mcnabb Funeral home in Pocahontas Ar. on Monday May 13 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be on May 14th at 11am in the chapel of McNabb Funeral home with Harmon Seawel and Ligie Waddell Jr. officiating. Internment will follow at the
Dalton cemetery near Warm Springs.
