Pocahontas - Mr. Joseph "Joe" Herman Dust, 94, passed away Sunday, December 23 at Five Rivers Medical Center. Born January 07, 1918 in Pocahontas to the late Henry and Anna (Kirkemier) Dust. He is also preceded in death by brothers; George (Helen) Dust, Fred Dust, and Bob (Joy) Dust and sisters; Baby Mary, Sister Georgia Dust, and Margaret (George) Baltz. Mr. Dust was a Staff Sargent in the U. S. Army. He was awarded the WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, AP Theater Ribbon and American Defense Service Ribbon. Mr. Dust was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Promberger Traw VFW Post 4556 Honor Guard and a retired volunteer fireman. Joe was proud to serve in the Army during WWII and carry on that service with Promberger Traw VFW Post 4556 Honor Guard as Bugler until 2010. He loved being with family and friends. He continued to work with wood and made many toys, clocks, and other crafts until he was 93 years old. He kept busy playing cards, reading, playing bingo, watching old movies and historical war documentaries. He is survived by 5 sons, Don Dust of Pocahontas, AR; Mike (Judy) Dust of Knoxville, TN; Richard (Melissa) Dust of Jonesboro, AR; Greg (Karen) Dust of Thorton, AR and Scott Dust of Covington, GA; 2 daughters, Kathy Dust of Pocahontas, AR and Ann (John) Wilson of Little Rock, AR; 1 sister, Sister Lenore Dust of Holy Angels Convent, Jonesboro, AR; and 3 grandchildren; Jessica Wilson of Japan, Matthew Wilson of Little Rock, AR., and Jonathan Dust of Knoxville, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or Promberger Traw VFW Post 4556. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father John Marconi officiating. Burial followed in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary following in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Pallbearers included: Don Thielemier, Mick Walden, Jerry Lindsey, Jonathan Wren, Randy Brooks, Bernard Zosso and Tony Hausman.
