Monette - Johnny Wayne Houchin, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Born on June 15, 1944, to the late Paul and Freda Laverne (Vernie) Roe Houchin in Caraway, Johnny lived a life full of love and dedication.

Johnny was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He found joy in coaching his sons' baseball teams and achieved thirteen holes-in-one as an avid golfer. He loved farming and bragging on and embellishing his grandchildren's accomplishments. John loved and lived life to the fullest on his terms.

A lifelong member of Rowes Chapel Baptist and an attendee of Monette First Baptist Church, Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Brenda Sue Houchin; his daughter Mylinda (Dave) Pierce of Monette; sister Nettie Lou James of Harrisburg; special sister-in-law Lin Dowless of Monette; three grandchildren Chelsea (Andy) Bettis of Jonesboro, Colton (Kelsea) Houchin of Manila, and Bret Houchin of Broken Bow, OK; two great-grandchildren Ben and Palmer Bettis; and special nephew Brant Dowless of Monette.

Johnny was preceded in death by his son Chad Houchin; brother Tommy Houchin; and sister Dianna Riggs.

A  graveside service will be held Sunday April 13, 2025 in Monette Cemetery at 2 PM, open to all friends and family with Rev. Jared Russell and Larry Sanders officiating. The services will be under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.
