Jonesboro- Johnny Ray Broadway passed away Friday, December 25, 2020. He went to meet Jesus on Christmas Day, his Lord's birthday.
Johnny lived his entire life in the Philadelphia Community north of Jonesboro where he was born to Ralph and Maxine Broadway on December 31, 1932. After serving in the US Army, he graduated from Arkansas State College in 1959. He was retired from the General Electric Company where he worked for 30 years as the Payroll and Benefits Administrator. He also owned and operated the Philadelphia Mobile Home Court from 1971 until his death.
Johnny loved working and playing with his family. He was a life-long member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon; and, he also served for many years as president of the Philadelphia Cemetery Association.
Preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Daniel Cody Broadway.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lanelle Meeker Broadway; his three sons, Mark (Becky) Broadway of Elkins, Kenny (Sherri) Broadway of Jonesboro and Jared (Leslie) Broadway of Duluth, MN; his brother, Michael Broadway of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Joey) Hall, Mollie (Brian) Veteto, Ethan (Kayla) Broadway, Trey (Allison) Chism, and Susanna Broadway and five great-grandchildren, Blayne, Autumn, and Judah Hall, Karsyn Broadway and Caroline Chism.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 27 at 2:00 at the Philadelphia Cemetery with Reverend Raymond Atwood officiating under the direction of Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
