Ash Flat - Mr. Johnnie J. Lewis, 88, formerly of Jonesboro passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem. Mr. Lewis was born at Otwell on December 11, 1927 to the late John and Frances King Lewis and lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was a retired mechanic for the former Ford dealer in Jonesboro, the Patton Motor Company. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the former Cottage Home Baptist Church and later in life attended the Ash Flat Church of Christ. He loved to garden and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Lewis is survived by one son and his wife, Larry and Dianna Lewis of Ash Flat; one brother, Kenneth Lewis of Muncie, IN; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashley) Lewis of Ash Flat; Jon (Christie) Lewis of Jonesboro; May (Garry) Duhme of Hardy; and Jason Stephens of Ash Flat; ten great-grandchildren; Cullen Lewis, Cade Lewis, Chloe Lewis, Jake Lewis, Jordon Lewis, Bailee Duhme, Emilee Duhme, Megan Stephens, Abigail Stephens and Adrian Stephens and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine Alexander Lewis, a son, Terry Wayne Lewis and one brother, Jurl Lee Lewis. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Boles officiating. Burial will follow at the Keller's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jeremy Lewis, Jon Lewis, Cullen Lewis, Cade Lewis, Jake Lewis, Jason Stephens, Adrian Stephens and Garry Duhme and as honorary pallbearers, Chloe Lewis, Jordon Lewis, Megan Stephens, Abigail Stephens, Bailee Duhme and Emilee Duhme.
