John Walter Truitt, 46, of Pocahontas, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at UAMS in Little Rock.

John was born May 21, 1977, in Pocahontas to John and Bobbye Recker Truitt.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Franklin Truitt; maternal grandparents, Exa Recker of Hoxie, and paternal grandparents, W.C. and Gladys Truitt of Minturn, AR.

John is survived by his wife, Melissa Sorg Truitt; sons, Johnathon Gage and Caleb Truitt; daughter, Kiley Truitt; mother, Bobbye Truitt; sisters, Beth (Jonathan) Ragan, Sarah (Jeremy) Presley, and Jennifer Truitt; mother and father in-law, Larry and Pam Sorg; and sister-in-law, Christy (Scott) Broadway.  He is also survived by nieces, Kristyn (Ben) Hibbard, Miranda Tolbert, Mia Presley, Emma Childress, and Hope Broadway; nephews, Joshua Ragan, Braden Presley, Logan Earley, and Noah Broadway; extra special great niece, EmmyLou Hibbard; Uncle and Aunts, Don (Nina) Truitt and Mary Freeman of Black Rock; and many other friends and family.

He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

There will be a visitation held Wednesday, May 8, 2024, 11-2 P.M. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 P.M. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery at Black Rock, AR.  Father Stephen Elser and Pastor Pat Bodenhamer officiating.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Eric McGhehey, Daniel Richmond, Whitney Nunally, Ronnie Miller, Jim Murray, Chris Fort, Chad Chester and Kevin Brown.

Honorary pallbearers are Rick Fort, Gordon Block, Adam Nettles, Marty Martin, Jonathan Courtney, Jake Redwine, Michael Halliburton, Curt Alphin and many other great friends.
