Obituary

John Thomas Chambers III, known to family and friends as Tom or Tommy, passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on May 20, 1951, Tom lived a life centered around family, hard work, and the things he enjoyed most.

Tom was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and went on to earn his degree from Arkansas State University, where he developed a lifelong passion for the Red Wolves. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he carried that service and discipline with him throughout his life. In his younger years, Tom was also an accomplished bowler, achieving a perfect score of 300—a milestone he was proud of and one that reflected his competitive spirit.

He spent much of his career working for Mando America, where he eventually retired. He lived for many years in Opelika, Alabama, before returning to Jonesboro in 2022 following the passing of his younger brother, Terry.

Tom enjoyed spending time on the golf course, watching his Red Wolves, and relaxing with his dog, Sasha. More than anything, he valued time spent with his family and took pride in the generations that followed him.

He is survived by his former spouse of 30 years, Brenda Knight; his children, Allison Walker (Doug) and Nick Chambers (Anaisa); his grandchildren, Megan Morrisette and Krystal Hubbard (Travis); his great-grandchildren, Noah Hurd, Evan Luce, Caysen Stark, Barrett Hubbard, and twins Landon and Logan Hubbard; and Nick’s children, Bailey Chambers, Carlos Fresquet, and Eric Fresquet.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Chambers; his mother, Etta Chambers; his sister, Treva; his brother, Terry; and his wife, Andrea.

Tom will be remembered for his steady presence, his love of family, and the memories he created with those who knew him.

The family appreciates all thoughts and prayers during this time. A celebration of life will be held later this summer, with details to be shared in the coming weeks.
