Obituary

Pocahontas - John Eugene Brodell, 92, passed away Wednesday, September 05, 2012 at Randolph Home. Born June 19, 1920 in Engelberg to the late John and Catherine Brodell. He is also preceded in death by wife Marilyn Brodell, son John Brodell and brother Charles Brodell. He is survived by two daughters; Charlotte and husband Ralph Baltz of Pocahontas, Janna and husband Mike Creason of Pocahontas and son Don Brodell of Little Rock. Grandchildren include; Bruce and wife Tracie Brodell, Christy and husband Eddie Rose, Tara and husband Ron Mangold all of Pocahontas, Craig and wife Brittany Baltz of Fayetteville, Leah Eubank, Michael and wife Nicole Creason all of Jonesboro, Maddie and Allie Brodell of Little Rock. 6 great grandchildren. Brother Hubert and wife Dorthy Brodell of Jonesboro. Mr. Brodell was a veteran of World War II, having served 47 months in the Army with 18 months in Europe, seeing action in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He held the rank of Sgt. And was a forward observer for the 230th Field Artillery of the 30th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery, the Good Conduct Medal and five Battle Stars for action in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland. Memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Cemetery. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 08, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Jack Vu officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 o'clock rosary following in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Military Honors will be performed at the cemetery by Promberger Traw Post #4556. Pallbearers include: Craig Baltz, Michael Creason, Andy Brodell, Al Brodell, Tony Brodell and Bruce Brodell. Honorary Pallbearers include: Sonny Throesch, Carlton Throesch, Glen Hausman, Paul Leister and Rick O'Donnell.
