Jonesboro- Joel Thomas Esau, 71, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born March 13, 1943 in Newton, KS to the late Gerhard and Bernice Warkentine Esau. Joel will be remembered as a loving Dad and Papaw who loved being around people, having fun and being a great practical joker. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. Joel moved from Tulsato Jonesboro in 1983 and founded Jiffy Printing Center which he owned and operated for 25 years. He loved cruising in his yellow Corvette, fast cars and drag racing. He was an active member of the "Fast Glass Corvette Club". Survivors include his daughters, Ellen Weiner and husband Rion and Janna Esau all of North Little Rock; four brothers, Fred Esau and wife, Gloria of Catoosa, OK, David Esau and wife Lucille of Broken Arrow, OK, Tim Esau and wife Barbara of Catoosa, OK, and Mark Esau and wife Loretta of Claremore, OK; a sister, Karen Esau of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law, Joy Esau of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Lindsey Esau of Jonesboro, Ethan Weiner, Evan Weiner, Garrett Granger, and Aaron Weiner all of North Little Rock as well as several nieces and nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary and Steve Esau; a sister, Bernice Sweatland and a brother-in-law, Raymond Sweatland A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patti Soward officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday evening January 2, 2015 at Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
