Jonesboro- Joe Smithee, 81, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born, Junior Hale Smithee on February 2, 1936 in Optimus to late James Ellis and Truman Ruth Ward Smithee. He served his country proudly in the United States Army in Germany. He retired from Williamson's Buick-Toyota. He loved buying and selling anything.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Lois Smithee; a son, Joey Smithee (Jimmilee) ; Joey's mother, Dorothy Smithee; grandson, Sam Smithee all of Jonesboro; three sisters, Mildred Miller and Joyce Vaughn both of Jonesboro, Barbara Mueller (Bud) of Hardy; two brothers, J. W. Smithee (Beatrice) of Illinois and Glen Smithee of Hardy.

He was also preceded in death two sisters, Willa Mae Fortson and Iva Smithee and a brother, Gary Smithee.

A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Nettleton Cemetery with George Williamson officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm Wednesday at Gregg Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
