Obituary

Jonesboro- Joe "Sonny" Gammill, 84, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017.

He was born November 29, 1932 in Nettleton to the late Brodie and Rosalie Moore Gammill. Sonny proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a high school agriculture teacher and was Director of Farms at Arkansas State University for over twenty-five years. He was a member of Herndon Church of Christ.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Gammill; his step-father, Claude Gammill and a sister, Virginia Gartman.

He is survived by his sons, Daniel Gammill of Bono and Keith Gammill (Alesia) of Jonesboro; a sister, Marian Hollaway of Bay; two grandchildren, Tyler Gammill and Erin Gammill and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Adcox officiating. Interment will follow at Herndon Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from noon and 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Tommy Crowell, Pat Graham, Greg Miller, Terry Jones, Clifford Lenderman and Gary Gartman and as honorary pallbearers are Brian Beck, Tyler Gammill, Marty Pope, Dr. Lew Brinkley and Neil Moore.
