Joan Hoover of Jonesboro, departed this life Friday, November 26, 2021, at her home, at the age of 86.

She was born March 11, 1935, in Otwell, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Henry Welman Kifer and Anna Bradley Kifer.

Joan spent her early childhood years in Marked Tree and later moved to Jonesboro and graduated from Jonesboro High School.  Following High School, she married James O. Hoover and they enjoyed 50 years together before his death in 2004.  She was a former telephone operator for many years and also worked for Colson Caster Company for many years.  She worked at North School in Jonesboro as a Para-Professional for several years as well.  She enjoyed fishing and sewing and loved to bake.  She made many wedding cakes for friends.  She was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband James, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Hoover, two sisters, Rosalie Lindsley and Margaret Peters, and two brothers, Allen Kifer and Jean Kifer.

She is survived by two sons, Brent Hoover of Jonesboro and Keith Hoover (Michelle) of Brandon, MS, two brothers, Brad Kifer (Maria) of Mountain View, and Jimmy Tate (Pat) of Augusta, GA, and three grandchildren, Amelia Hoover of Brandon, MS, Cody James Hoover of Hawaii, and Sarah Elizabeth Kloss of Munich, Germany.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Parker officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Tuesday morning, 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Tate, Brian Tate, Gary Kifer, Lynn Kifer, Kevin Kifer, and Derek Kifer.
