Mrs. Joan Reed of Harrisburg departed this life at her home on Monday, March 18, 2019, at the age of 77. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, July 23, 1941, the daughter of Earl Dee Needham and Eleanora Perkins Needham.

She worked for Western Electric in Indianapolis where she repaired telephones and retired in 1978. After retiring and moving to Harrisburg, Arkansas, she worked in a convenience store and also operated a craft store and lawn mower shop. One of her favorite hobbies was her concession trailer that she enjoyed for twelve years. Joan was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Donna Hemphill, one brother, Dale Needham and one granddaughter, Brittney Welch.

Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bill Reed, of the home; one daughter Rena Welch (Larry) of Jonesboro; three stepchildren: James Reed (Cathy) of Brownsburg Indiana, Terry Thacker (Bill), of Madison, Indiana, and Beth Agee (Doug) of Tennessee; two sisters: Sheila Brahic (Don) of Goobertown, and Kim Davis of Jonesboro; three brothers: Ronald Needham of Lakeland, Florida, Dennis Needham (Carol) of Bald Knob, and Ken Needham (Brenda) of Bald Knob. Joan is also survived by three grandchildren, Candice Dalton of Jonesboro, Jennifer Sanders of Valley View, and Stephanie Murphy of Jonesboro and several step grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, March 22, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Gregg- Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Kenny McMahan officiating. Burial will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye, Arkansas.

Visitation for friends and family will be at 12 p.m.., Friday, until time of service.

Pallbearers will be: Larry Welch, Ken Needham, Phil Reed, Jim Stacey, Randall Needham and John Garner
