Obituary

Monette- Jimmy Harold Pyland, 67, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born February 11, 1948 in Monette to the late J. H. and Bernice Hampton Pyland. Mr. Pyland served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, he was a left door gunner, Staff Sergeant and Drill Sergeant. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and Monette American Legion Post. He was also a Boy Scout Master - Order of the Arrow. He will be remembered for his big heart and was loved by all. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Pyland of Pocahontas; two step-daughters, Loretta Dodd of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Sandra Titus of Keller, Texas; four grandchildren, Thomas Dodd and Mary Dodd of Cape Girardeau and Miranda Titus and Madeline Titus of Keller. A celebration of his life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Monette United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service Saturday at the church. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ronnie Qualls, Bill Craig, Rusty Thompson, Keith Thompson, Mike Ashley and Robin Ashley. Services were entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
