Bono- Jimmy Leon Perkins, 80, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his residence in the Fifty-six Community. He was born September 20, 1933 in Poplar Ridge to the late W. H. and Ethel Ashburn Perkins. Mr. Perkins served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a lifelong farmer and Baptist minister. Churches, he ministered to were Oak Grove Baptist - Sedgwick, Little Texas Missionary Baptist- Cash, a small Baptist Church in Marmaduke, Macedonia Baptist - Jonesboro, Landmark Missionary in Elizabeth and Fontaine Baptist Church - Fontaine. He enjoyed hunting, painting, carpentry, board games especially WaHoo, movies and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Betty Sue Whited Perkins; three sons and their wives, Calvin and Debbie Perkins of Fayetteville, TN, Robert and Daphne Perkins of Lorado, Keith and Renee Perkins of Lonoke; two daughters, Donna Perkins Woods and husband, Jeff of Bay and Anita Perkins Casteel and husband, John of Batesville; two sisters, Pauline Cornish and husband Clarence of Monette and Peggy Harper of Sedgwick; thirteen grandchildren, Ashley Jackson, Christina Mixon, Rachel Rieger, Sarah Perkins, Hannah Perkins, Alec Childress, Wesley Perkins, Dustyn Perkins, Jacob Perkins, Graycen Perkins, Mallory Perkins, Jake Leonard, Nikkolette Perkins; four great-grandchildren, Chris Jackson, Connor Jackson, Madison Mixon and Natalee Mixon; a host of nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Perkins and Billy Joe Perkins; three sisters, Anna Belle Freeman, Betty Lou Perkins and Mary Perkins; three grandchildren, April Woods, Emily Perkins and Landon Perkins. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Trinity Methodist Church with Rev. Freddie Jones officiating. Burial to follow at Trinity Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Dan's Place (formerly Red Brick Building) at the Old Bono School. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alec Childress, Wesley Perkins, Dustyn Perkins, Jacob Perkins, Jake Leonard and Wayne Neeley and as honorary pallbearers, his granddaughters, Ken Freeman, Bill Clifft and friends of Fifty-six Community.
