Trumann- Jimmy “Jim” Von Furnish, 79, passed away on October 6, 2026. Born April 27, 1947, in Jonesboro to the late Junior Lee and Bonnie Marie Harper Furnish, Jim lived a life marked by service, faith, and friendship.
A devoted member of Freer Baptist Church for more than 50 years, Jim’s faith shaped the way he treated others, with kindness and patience. He served the Trumann community for many years through law enforcement, working with the Trumann Police Department from 1969 to 1986, including ten years as Police Chief. He later continued his commitment through the Poinsett County Juvenile Office, where he served as a juvenile intake officer.
Some of Jim’s happiest hours were spent at the coffee shop with friends, trading stories, sharing laughs, and solving the world’s problems.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Furnish, of the home; his son, Chad (Katelyn) Furnish of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Lindsey (Chris) Bennett of Jonesboro and Lauren (Chase) Phillips of Jonesboro; and two great‑grandchildren, Evie Phillips and Boone Bennett. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Landon Furnish.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Monette Cemetery, with Rev. Thomas Burgess officiating. The family will welcome friends from 12:00–1:00 p.m. at Freer Baptist Church, 30751 Freer Rd., Trumann, AR 72472.
Lasting memorials may be made to Freer Baptist Church.
