Mrs. Jewell Cooper, of Jonesboro, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life Friday January 31, 2014 at St Bernard's Hospital, at the age of 102. She was born May 13, 1911 in Hergett, AR, to the late Columbus Pruitt and Maggie Richards Pruitt. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and care for her family. Her family life was her first priority. Outside the home, she also worked for several years at a convalescent home in California. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Cooper of Southaven, Mississippi, Sue Pankey of Memphis, Tennessee and Joan Gassman and husband Bill of Joshua Tree, California; four sons, Gary Cooper and wife Bobbie and Larry Cooper and wife Shirley all of Jonesboro, Billy Ray Cooper and wife Sue of Harrisburg and Mike Cooper and wife Becky of Harrison; four brothers, Herbert Whittingham of Jonesboro, Raymond Whittingham of Trumann, Paul Whittingham of Harrisburg and James Whittingham of Missouri ; a sister, Earlene Ashton of Trumann; thirteen grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband Alvin Ray Cooper; her parents who raised her Oscar and Julie Whittingham; two brothers, Earl Whittingham and O'Neal "Doc" Whittingham; two sisters, Edna May Hooker and Lavonne May. Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Connect officiating. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Butch Davis, Doyle Hillis, Tony Whittingham, Darrell Whittingham, Steve Whittingham and Joe long.
