Jonesboro- Jerry Don Mays, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

He was born June 12, 1940 in Jonesboro to the late Lex and Nellie White Mays. He was a United States Navy Veteran, served on the Jonesboro City Council and he retired from Sears and Roebuck Company after many years. Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating, hunting and spending time with his family. He was an active member of Forrest Home Church of Nazarene. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Terry and Debbie Mays of Lake City and Pat and Galen Dennis of Jonesboro; daughter-in-law, Tammy Mays of Jonesboro; sister-in-law, Mary Tounsand (Gene) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Clayton Mays, Joshua Dennis (Amy), Travis Mays (Jordan), Jessica Richmond (Dalton), Nichole Dennis, Jenna Mays and Natalie Dennis; great-grandchildren, Nathan Dennis, Weston Jerry Richmond and Lenzey Mays; a nephew, Mike Boling (Cindy); a niece, Adel Wade (Danny) and friend and caretaker, Kim Owens.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Mays; a son, J.D. Mays; a grandson, Jacob Dennis and mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Louise Spencer.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Gregg- Langford Book out Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2022 at Gregg- Langford Book out Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Clayton Mays, Joshua Dennis, Travis Mays, Dalton Richmond, Mike Boling and Javaine Furnatter.
