Monette- Jerry Wayne "John" Gathright, 75, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital.

John was born July 10, 1946 in Jonesboro to the late Clyde and Rella Lamb Gathright Sr. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart. He served his community as a member of the Monette American Legion and the Monette Masonic Lodge for fifty years. He attended the Macey Methodist Church. John had a great sense of humor and loved life. He never met a stranger and everyone who came in contact with him, loved Johnny. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved watching his grandkids' sports. He loved his family, friends and classmates. John will always be remembered as a loving brother, husband, dad and pop.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Gathright; his children, Tammy Colbert (Scott) and Wade Gathright; a brother, Clyde "Jack" Gathright Jr. (June); grandchildren, Wes Colbert, Catherine Colbert Smith (Taylor) and Kylie Gathright; sisters-in-law, Norma Gathright and Linda Blocker; grand-dogs, Berkley "Toot", Loretta and Waylon and several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Gathright Craig and three brothers, Billy Gathright, Tommy Gathright and Gene Gathright and two nephews, Phillip Gathright and Jackie Wayne Gathright.

A celebration of his life will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Reed and Bob Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at Leachville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Wes Colbert, Dennis Gathright, Mickey Craig, Tommy Craig, Randy Hutchison, Kane Ashley and John Ashley and as honorary pallbearers, Robin Ashley, Bill Craig, Owen Keiter, Scott Hutchison, John McEntire, Hershel Renfrow, Rudy Snider, Bill Stacy, Fred Stewart, Lester Mullen, the Monette High School Class of 1964, Monette Masonic Lodge members and fellow Vietnam Veterans.

Lasting memorials may be sent to Monette American Legion or Monette Masonic Lodge or St. Judes Children Research Hospital.
