Jonesboro- Jerry Wade Denton, 69, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1945 at Lepanto to the late William and Marcell Gattis Denton. Mr. Denton was a farmer and "jack of all trades". He will be remembered as a hard worker, a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Pat Denton and their children and their spouses, Molli and Marty Bishop of Silver Spring, MD and Jerrod and Alix Denton; his daughters and their husbands, Wendy and Michael Hoffman and Mandy and Sammie Wilkerson all of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Jesse Owens, Sydney Hoffman, Miranda Denton, Patrick Owens, Addison Denton and Margaret Bishop; two great-grandchildren, David Owens and Kaelynn Owens; a brother, Bill Denton of Winona, MS; a step-sister and her husband, Brenda and Fred Smith of Keiser. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Denton; a step-mother, Ruby Denton; a grandchild, Darian Sutton; and his first wife, lifelong friend and mother of Wendy and Mandy, Neavyer Denton A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00 am Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Duffel officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until time of service Thursday at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Cerebral Palsy in honor of granddaughter, Margaret Bishop.
