Jonesboro- Jerry D. Clark, Sr., 79, was born October 31, 1938 to Tom and Jewell Clark and was raised and lived in the Jonesboro area. He passed from this life surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by the love of his life, Joan E. Clark and his three children. Daughter, Donna Blanchard (Mike), sons, Jerry Don Clark, Jr. (Pam) and Tommy Clark (Teresa) all of Jonesboro. Sister, Tommie Sue Clark of Spokane, WA; four grandchildren, Heather Heringer (Al), Jarrett Clark, Jace Clark (Amber) and Will Clark (Abbi); step granddaughters, Kelli Denton (Joe) and Erica Baugh (Brett); great grandchildren, Quince and Luke Heringer, and step grandchildren, Baron and Ellie Baugh and Hays Denton. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was a 1956 Valley View Graduate and proud to be a starting member of the '56 State Championship Basketball Team. He attended Arkansas State University and was a member of the Arkansas National Guard where he and many of his fellow Valley View alums were activated during the desegregation of Central High School in Little Rock. He was a third generation rice and soybean farmer in the Otwell and Valley View Communities and continued to farm with his sons until his retirement. In 1996 Jerry Clark and Son's farm was selected by Farm Futures Magazine as the Best Managed Farm in America. He was very proud of this honor and his sons. Jerry was also a former member and secretary of the Beech Creek Hunting Club of Bradley, Co. Arkansas. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, cooking, spending time with family, and was of the Christian faith.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m at Jonesboro Memorial Park in Jonesboro with Mitch Ford of Christian Valley Christian Church officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jarrett Clark, Jace Clark, Will Clark, Al Heringer, Mike Mahan and Greg Dulaney.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brannon Treece, Dr. Carroll Scroggin, Billy Joe Adams, Doyle Roach, Dennis Best, Jerry Waddill, Tom Ressler and members of the Beech Creek Hunting Club.
