Obituary

Bay- Mrs. Jean Scott, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at her residence. She was born January 21, 1928 in Bay to the late W. C. and Ola Isbell. Mrs. Jean was a lifetime member of the Bay Methodist Church and active member of the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in Elementary Education and started teaching at Dixie then moved to Bay School Systems where she retired after thirty-six plus years. She also worked part-time at First National Bank at Trumann, now Region Bank and she did taxes for Tice Bookkeeping CPA and continued to do taxes after his retirement until her illness forced her to quit. Jean was a lover of sports particularly the Bay Yellowjackets and the St. Louis Cardinals. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Lynn and Lavelle Scott of Bay and Tommy and Debbie Scott of Fort Smith; a daughter, Linda Davis of Maumelle; two sisters, Jackie Hancock of Jonesboro and Venita Bruner of Cherokee Village; six grandchildren, Brandy Scott, Brett Scott, Ethan Scott, Matt Davis, Amanda Craven and Amber Freeman; six great-grandchildren, Briana Scott, Bailee Scott, Hunter Scott, Hayden Scott, Reese Craven and Dylan Craven; a very special friend, Teet Fults. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Merimon G. Scott; a sister, Dorothy Bruner and two step-sons, Merimon Scott and Jimmy Scott. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Bay United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Lewert officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, July 24, 2015 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mike Bradford, Michael Ashlock, Jeremy Ashlock, Elbert Bradford, Paul Spencer and Terry Hall and as honorary pallbearers, Bill Stone, Frank Nichols, Russell Hall and Randal Spurlock.
